Those who purchase a bottle of the Appleton Estate 30 Year Old Jamaica Rum will also receive an exclusive invitation to take up two places at a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience created by Appleton Estate and award-winning chef Geoff Scott.
This spectacular event will be held on Tuesday 16 March at Auckland’s magical Kelliher Estate – a truly breath-taking location reminiscent of the Appleton Estate in Jamaica. Guests will be treated to a 5-star bespoke menu created by Geoff Scott, owner and chef of Auckland's iconic Vinnies Restaurant (New Zealand Culinary Fare 2008 Restaurant of the Year).
Geoff says, “It’s not often you get a chance to create a menu to celebrate rum, let alone one of this rarity, quality and history. What an exciting challenge!
“My ideas for the menu initially started with my desire to showcase fabulous New Zealand product, which is what I’m most passionate about – the foods and flavours of New Zealand are my greatest love.
“I also wanted to weave in inspiration from Jamaica, so I spent time talking with Appleton Estate’s fascinating Master Blender, Joy Spence, to learn more about the influences that inspire her.
“Chatting with Joy, I learned about her childhood favourites, the meals cooked by her mother and grandmother in her Jamaican hometown, and the dishes she herself enjoys creating – because not only is Joy a Master Blender, she’s a serious foodie and great cook!
“With that in mind, I’ve prepared a unique menu that’s a marriage of our two passions – my love for New Zealand and Joy’s love for Jamaica.
“It combines the essence of the Appleton Estate with the finest Kiwi ingredients to create what I hope will be an unforgettable meal. Partnered with stunning wines, exquisite rum cocktails and a luxurious evening in an incredible location, it’s truly a night not to be missed.”
In addition to the exquisite dishes created by Geoff, the dinner will feature the opportunity to taste the Appleton Estate 30 Year Old, which will be introduced via video by Joy, who holds the honour of being the international spirits industry’s first female Master Blender.
